An Olivia Lufkin Inspired Contest <3



ABOUT: Olivia Lufkin. To be honest. She is one of my idols. Not only does she make me feel honored to have the same name as her, but she is just gorgeous, musically talented, and creative!

This is an inspirational contest. meaning that you don't have to know about her life and such just her music. All you have to do is just listen to her music, and incorporate that inspiration or song into any piece. If you don't like it then incorporate your dislike into a piece. It can be humorous, serious, anything. It is all about inspiration. You don't have to draw Olivia in your pieces, you just have to draw whatever comes to mind, but please no doodles make this a serious deviation no matter what.

This specifically will not branch out to all her music (that's asking too much), but just her most recent singe "Sailing Free"


WhO IS OLIVIA LUFKIN? To begin with, I like Olivia because she can ACTUALLY SING! Most Japanese artist keep the high pitch tones (in terms of pop music). She has a very unique style, that stretches from not just pop but rock and even indie and surreal styles. Obviously she's not pure japanese, in fact shes a CALIFORNIAN! From what I hear she's originally from L.A, but I could be wrong. Most of her videos are very abstract, and her lyrics do say more than just stupid things. Actually some of her songs, have very little to no vocals at all. It's really about the play of her voice to the music. That to me is bringing art in music <3

If you still don't know her by her other songs, you might be familiar with the anime Nana She Sang the songs "A little Pain," "Wish," "Starless Night." She mostly had her name on the vids as Olivia Inspi' Reira (Trapnest).


RULES: Anyone can join, but please if you do join be serious that you're gonna submit something...
~~~You don't have to draw Olivia but anything inspired by the vid or her music from the single.
~~~Please no hate pieces. If you don't like the song or her, do something positive, even if you hate her or whatever. Humorous ideas about music stereotypes will be fine if ONLY you don't like her piece.
~~~Make sure in your DA post, you refer to the contest, and say what song inspired you and what of it inspired you.
~~~Submit your entries ON TIME! I might accept late entries, but trust me once a day or so have passed I won't accept it. Maybe 5mins to2 hours late is acceptable.
~~~Lastly all pieces must be inspired by her most recent Single "Sailing Free" or any tracks included in her single. I'd make it more general but she has way too many songs to browse, and this way you can be focused on one single
~~~I can't stress this enough, but NOTE ME FIRST AND NOTE ME YOUR ENTRIES DO NOT COMMENT
~~~When you note me first, make sure you are SERIOUS on entering, please. We don't want to cancel another contest. People work hard on their pieces, it's only fair!
~~~Lastly, ANY TYPE OF MEDIUM can be used. It can be crafts, jewelry, dolls, photography, traditional, photoshoped ANYTHING, just be original, okay <3


HOW DO I ENTER
1. Watch her video Sailing free [link]
2. Listen to the extra tracts or her entire single here [link] That is a .RAR file you may have to download. It shouldn't take that long to download at all.
3. Find your inspiration
4. Note me that you are entering the contest (with the subject Sailing Free) Your piece does not have to be ready yet, but if you have started or planning to actually SUBMIT something, note me.
5. When your piece is done for submission, Please include in your DA description, which song inspired you the most or which only song inspired you, and what of it inspired you. Also how it relates to the piece you drew. This part shouldn't be hard since it's basically talking about your drawing.
6. Note me with a link to a completed entry.
7. Wait like the good people are you are <3


DEADLINE: August 7th or 21st depending what people prefer. I personally would prefer the 7th because it gives me time to review all the pieces and mail the prize accordingly.
If there is enough of a request, I will push it to the 21st.

1st Place A colored deviation by me, a Chocolate Mirror, stationary, and other cute mystery goodies. This is the only winner that will get actual objects
